Like they said, you need to buy a vehicle that suits your needs. If you are worried at all about gas mileage, there are other vehicles out there that can definitely provide you with better mileage. A Jeep isn't for everybody, but dollar for dollar, it's one of the few vehicles that will give you the most return for your investment in both satisfaction and resale if you ever decide to let your Jeep go. This is my second wrangler and my had owned a TJ previously and now owns a shiny new 4WD Liberty. Both haul the kids and suit our needs just fine. Oh, gas mileage...I just took my '07 X to New Mexico from central California in January and got 19 mpg's and I have over 114,000 on the odometer. My wife's liberty got 20 mpg's on our trip to Texas in December. My '06 F150 barely got 15 mpg's going downhill. So again, buy for what suits your needs...the overall joy of ownership will be much better if you purchase a vehicle with that in mind. Just my .02 cents. Have fun shopping.
If you know what you're getting into with a jeep(gas mileage etc) and as mentioned suits your needs(like you don't need the bed of a truck) it's a no brainer......... JEEP dude!!!! So much fun!!!!
Like I said just know what you're getting into(and I'm not trying to sound negative toward the jeep)
The jeep pro's(owning one) FAR outweighs the cons !!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!

Honestly, if you have to ask that question, you probably should jump on the light truck.
When I test drove my first Jeep(1997 TJ) I had experience with Jeeps through my friends, but had never owned one. When i got in the driver side door, and took off down the road I loved it. Most of my fonder memories from highschool involve the Jeep.
A Jeep enables a person with the correct mindset to explore things that no other vehicle could allow them to.
Its not a fashion statement, and its not very practical.

I talked to several people before I got my '08 JK and many more after I purchased. I agree that if you are after a smooth ride, ability to carry cargo and good gas mileage....there are other vehicles to consider. Mine has rattles, gets around 15 mpg and doesn't haul much around.....and I love it.....its a jeep!!!
Well I can start by saying Wranglers keep their value like 93% of their value. An F150 losses 50% of its value before you ever change the oil.
But like I said you can not even find a used JK or TJ for that matter going for under 17k here but I can find a shite ton of f 2008-10 Ford pickups for 13-16k .

Cause it's what you what!...if that's the case. You want or need a truck? Then you should get one. I love my Jeep. Fun on way to work, at work, after work. Perfect vehicle for me. VERY practical for my purposes!
