I didn't take my covers off I just popped the cork on the side with the rachet let that drain, then went to the front did the same while the back wa draining, went to the back stuck my suction tube in there prepped my 2 quarts with the rubber vaccum hose and proceded to screw in the plug and pour afterwards. Piece of cake. I read the write up and without it I would have never attempted it. YOU CAN DO IT !!!!

If you have that kind of money to spend, DIY and and use the change to buy new diffy covers while you're at it. You'll still have enough change left over for new floor mats or a Woods evap cannister relocation kit. And if you shop carefully, you should still have enough money to also throw in a Woods steering stabilizer kit. All of these are pretty straight forward DIY projects.

As mentioned in other posts, I am way TOO dumb to attempt any important DIY project that could potentially leak out fluid! That being said, I called my local dealer and was quoted a price of $275 - $305 for front and rear diff oil change...this includes the transfer case he says as well. Certainly not $500...what do you all think?

No you're not. And if you lived nearby I'd offer to have you over to my place to do the work. Since it's a long drive, I hope (and expect) that someone from Virginia will chime in and say, "Come on over!"

You gotta' be more confident!

Seriously, all you have to do is take a 3/8" drive ratchet to the top bolt on your differential cover and unscrew it, put a oil catch pan under the differential cover, and unscrew the lower bolt and let it drain. Wipe off the metal shavings that attached to the bolts with a paper towel and screw the lower one back in. Fill in the top opening with the proper oil (you'll need 4 quarts of 75W90 in total and I used Mobil 1 synthetic for my change) until it starts to spill out. Screw the top bolt back in and repeat for the front. The front differential takes way less oil than the back. Fill up the empty oil containers with the used oil and drop them off to a mechanic so they can dispose of it.

Follow this tutorial closely and if you're having any reservations go out and take a look at the covers and see beforehand.

I can give you my number if you need someone to walk you through it when you're doing it on the weekend or something. Let me know.
