When they made the JK, why didnt they put the 3.7L Magnum that the commanders have, in the JK? I bought my wife a 2010 Commander for Christmas and that engine is ridiculous compared to the 3.8L in the JK.

Another question ...why didn't Chrysler put the V6 from the dodge ram in the JK?

or even the 4.0 minivan v6?

I'm not one to complain about the engine... it is what it is. but it seems there were much better option to choose from. I'm pretty sure the wrangler is the only vehicle that still has the 3.8

Default V8

I always wondered why they didn't put the V8 out of the Dodge Dakota in it weighs close to the 3.8 with a lot more power and torque .

My theroy is the 3.8 has the best fuel economy options while used in the jeep. Sure they could've put in a v8 but chrysler v8s are notorious for sucking gas. Its all about mpg not power. Just my. 02

I had that exact model prior to my JK...it would roll! That being said, still have way more fun in the JK than I ever did in the Durango!
