getting the extended warranty company to re-intate my old warranty is a long shot because of all the loop holes and illegitimate claims they can make about the jeep and off roading. I am goig to get the shudder problem diagnosed and make a claim with Chrysler to fix the problem with the transmission or torque converter. The dealership is not willing to work with me on the problem even though they say they hate to lose a customer...

After this shudder is fixed I will either keep the jeep for the next year and get a run around car or just get a new jk - only with an agreed lifetime powertrain. And I will never purchase from this dealer again.

With school so busy it makes it hard to deal with everything at once, but I am working at it.

Thumbs up

just an update for those of you who wondered if everything has gotten worked out.

Two weeks ago i took the Jeep in to get diagnosed by the good dealership and i took the service rep for a ride, replicated the shudder, he then took a tech for a ride and replicated the shudder, and then the tech took the Jeep and monitored the torque converter function (with star-scan) and found that it was slipping, causing the shudder. and shaking.

Certified Diagnosis - $70 employee pricing (not the $95 it should have been)
Torque Converter - $450
Front Pump - $220
Misc. Filters + Fluid - $20 - $50
Dropping the transmission and doing all the work - roughly another $800 in labor

Total estimate would run around $1500 - $1700 bucks

Began my second case with chrysler, and within a few days (my case manager was great, she just couldn't get ahold of me because of my schedule) she said that a desicion has been made in your case, and that Jeep would cover the cost, leaving me to pay only $300. )) I asked why they couldn't cover the $300 that was left and she said because Jeep only authorized so much and that the customer always has to take some part of the repair..
Being thankful that they would cover as much as they're going to, i will easily pay the $300 and fix the last on-going problem with my Jeep. (surrounds self with wood and religiously knocks on everything)

I want to go back to the shitty dealership and tell the dealer manager i spoke with (that said it was going no where), that there was a true documented problem, and that their service department neglected to investigate the Jeep issue, and that i have gotten it worked out myself, i will never step foot in their dealerships again, and deter those i know and anyone around me from visiting that charade they call a jeep dealership.
But i know that silence and peace of mind would be a better path to choose and that karma will get 'em all.

Glad to hear the cool news! I think AFTER the repairs are done, you could consider writing a letter to the owner/manager of the dealership... not just the GSM, explaining everything and how their lack of knowledge, experience, and unwillingness for good service and customer satisfaction has cost them, not only your business, but the business of everyone you know.

Karma is a bitch. Maybe Chrysler will shut them down the next time they make cutbacks.

See.

I don't envy the hassle you went through, but Chrysler is a stand up company. Patience and time solved your issue pretty well. Given that the warranty was third party, this is a huge gift from Chrysler.

Imagine where you would have been now had you taken the "scorched earth" approach and called the local media and a lawyer first. Chrysler didn't have actual legal obligation to you, but they did you well anyways. Had you taken the (bad) advice and started making major waves, you might not have gotten a thing.

Good to hear it turned out well, and thanks for updating.

Glad to here things have taken a turn for the better. Unfortunately the world is full of pricks and people that won't do the right thing if it means any sacrifice for them. That said all of the good peeps have to stick together. With the jeep in fighting shape TFT will be a blast.

Hope so, i'm thinkin of a set of 3/4" spacers Goin' big.

RickyJ i like how you used the term "scorched earth" approach. I had many opinions from a ton of people saying to get a lawyer and completely demolish the names of every company involved, but like i stated in the thread earlier, i'm not like that.. Yeah i was super pissed off because it's clear as day the Jeep is in tip top shape, but in the end chrysler did help me out alot on the problem and for that i am appreciative. The Jeep goes in first thing in the morning and i should have it back tomorrow evening. Thats what they said anyway. All the parts were in the shop in one day.

Dropped the Jeep off yesterday 8:30am and the Jeep was to be worked on and returned yesterday. Had an appointment, the parts are there...

It's Friday at 9:00am and they have not even touched the Jeep yet.

And it's a huge holiday weekend..

Alright, it's the end of July and the Jeep is finally fixed! Bill was over $1700+ bucks but i had to pay $300 because Jeep took the rest. The customer service from Jeep wasn't the absolute greatest, but my case manager had a lot of personal stuff going on i guess and was out of the office a few days. I did get follow up calls and that so everything did work out, and the Jeep runs great, no shudder or any other issues with the Jeep.

I'm happy that Jeep got my issue taken care of, especially since i'm over 68,000 miles. I can't say anything bad about the service of Jeep, or the dealer that did this repair, they were great. I would recommend Sliman's in Amherst to everyone.

Kasper of sandusky gave me horrible service and reinforced their terrible reputation. The only reason i would go back there is to tell them that the service bulletin they said didn't apply to my Jeep, actually DOES apply, and that would have saved my months of bullshit and a couple hundred of dollars that was spent on a problem that was caused by a manufacturer issue. I have nothign good to say about them, except that our salesmen was great, he along with many others actually moved to Sliman's. Ironic right?

So that's it for that, happy ending? eh, not so much. But not bad either. I'm good with it.

Glad it worked out and before TFT. It is a real testament to your character to see this through and not let people push you around. Keep up the good work.
