Default Dear automotive personnel:

Dear automotive personnel:
I drive a JEEP.
It gets dirty. I'm ok with that. I'm passed the "its new
keep it clean, Jeep" phase. Its dirty cause I drive it, and
I like it that way.
If I take my Jeep to you for whatever reason, oil change,
under coat, inspection etc. and you decide to wash it...
please do a good job. I understand its a "courtesy wash"
however if you are just going to do a half assed job and
miss spots as big as a 33" tire on the hood and doors,
not bother to do the rims, and make it look like my 11
month old little girl washed it please don't bother.
When the wife, who likes a clean Jeep, comments on
how bad a wash job it is....its a bad job.
I guess I could finish what you started and give it a
good wash, and clean up the mess you made... Or.... I
could have some fun and cover it up with fresh mud....
Short version, its a JEEP its ment to get dirty, but if you
insist on washing it.. do a good fucking job!

the wash isn't for you, the customer, it is a "courtesy" wash for the tech who has to work on that nasty ass ride
granted we get dirty and nasty, but we don't have to have big clobs of mud falling in our faces the whole time
I know sometimes it can't be helped, but I think some people go mud riding right before they bring their ride in for work

The first step is admitting you have a problem

A typical dealer courtesy wash for the customer does not involve anything under-hood or under-carriage 99% of the time, and it typically happens after service. Some dealerships take this to mean "actually wash the damn car" and impress the customer, but most of them throw some soap and water on top of dirt and let it dry, just to say they "washed it." I always ask before I hand over the car and have them make a note to please not wash it.

What you're talking about is the service wash for the true roach before it goes in for service. I used to work at a dealership in high school and sometimes the service writer or service manager or a tech would throw me the keys and have me clean up the engine bay or the undercarriage where work was going to be performed because the vehicle was such a mess.
