Default This is probably wrong but here is how i had it explained to me

You may have had a wheel (tire) that was out of balance. Or depending on the type of tire you may have had a broken belt a tire itself. Without going into a huge Physics lesson the spining body tries to balance itself and when you hit a bump it throws it out of wack... hence death wobble. New tires ( i assume you got them balanced) no more out of balance/ death wobble when you hit a bump.

Your death wobble may have been caused by an out of balance wheel/tire. When you add steel wheels and big tires, you increase the rotational weight significantly and balance becomes more crucial. I mounted and balanced my own wheels and tires and installed my own lift and I have never experienced death wobble. I know that everything's balanced and tight because I did it myself.

went from stock oem sahara rims w/ duelers. 20k on them
to cooper stt 315 75 r 16's on ultra aluminum rims.
bought the jk used. did not check the tire balance as it drove fine
until i put the lift on. i thought tire balance could cause d/w but
could find just a few opinions on here that said ya or nay. now i
believe it can!!! steering even feels tighter now, but i do plan on
a ss. wanted it right b/4 the ss tho......
35lbs. of air now but may run less soon....
