Default defrost?

Winter is here in Wyoming and I have to use my defrost every once awhile already. Problem is it smells funny. Sometimes it just has a strange smell and sometimes it smells like it is burning. It has never done this before. I did install an air intake system and a throttle body spacer, could those items be effecting the defrost in some way? I was thinking it was the normal thing since I haven't used it in months.
Should I be worried? Is it normal?

It's probably because you haven't ran the heat in months. Same thing happens when you turn on the AC for the first time. The heat part almost always smells like something's burning. While AC can smell like mildew. As for your CAI and spacer, I don't think there is a correlation between the parts and the smell..

I remember reading something about some wires heating up when the heat blows towards the floor on some jk's. It would smell like burning plastic. The fix was to move the wires away from the floor vents with zip ties or something to that effect.

I will check the wire as soon as I get my Jeep back. It turns out that the heater coil is going out. The jeep is in the shop and should hear back tomorrow. Will let you know
