Default To Disco or not to disco?

I made the decision to order a Jeep Green X.

Since I am ordering do you think I should spend $1320 on lockers and Electronic swaybar disco? or should I just get the Limited Slip Differential for $260?

My plan is to do some off-roading, but it will be my daily driver.

If its mostly DD I'd hold off on the $1300 package. Buy yourself a set of quick discos and save the money.

If after you take it off road you decide you absolutely need lockers (which I doubt you will) just get some after market ones!

Once you see how far that LSD takes you, you'll want lockers, so just buy them in the first place and don't spend the money twice. Once you wheel with lockers, there's no turning back.

This may be a silly question, but what are lockers really good for if you are pretty new?

How often are they used?

I would assume LSD would be better in snow and rain.

The rear locker and electric sway bar disco are a combined package (unfortunately).

If you have the funds then I say go for the package, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over not getting it either.

I say GET THEM BOTH.

Once you'll take the Jeep off road, you will love it soo much that you will go more often, and at some point you will regret not having them. And it will cost you way more than $1300 to get front/rear lockers installed. Plus you can't beat the convenience of just pushing a button and having your sway bar disconnect on its own.

Here here on that one! I gotta say that's my only regret with the Jeep so far. They didn't have any Rubis on the lot when I went to get mine, so I got a loaded X and have made my own mods (that's what happens when you quit your job, turn in your demo car, and have the wife drive you straight to the dealer). Next thing will be the JKS Quicker Discos, then the ARB lockers.

You might read this thread:

And this blog at Chrysler:

Jeep Brake Traction Control Explained

As far as manual QDs, I have the TF and it's really no problem. I'm going to get out of the Jeep to attach the Stantz tire deflators, so while they're doing their thing, I can get the TF QDs detached and stored--takes all of one minute. Putting them back on might take an extra minute or two (sometimes have to shove things around a bit to get things lined up), but it's no big hassle.
