Do you have Protection?
Wasn't sure where to put this thread. I hit a deer this morning, it didn't do a whole lot of damage but it made me wonder if any of the aftermarket bumpers would protect against hitting a deer. Has anyone every hit a deer with an aftermarket bumper? Also did it protect the front end of your jeep or did it not matter?

A buddy of mine hit a deer 5 min after leaving our wheeling trip. His aftermarket bumper sustained no damage.
Another buddy of mine hit a deer (both in past couple months) with his avalanche (stock bumper) and it caved it in pretty good... Hope this answers your question..

If you are going to hit a deer, brake as much as you can , but right before impact give it some throttle. This will lift up your front end and keep the front bumper from flipping the deer up on your hood like my buddy did in his TJ.
I slammed into 2 does at once going 85 in my silverado and I did 3500 worth of damage. I came over the top of a hill and wham bam thank you ma'am there were about 6 deer in the middle of the road. I just plowed right through 'em and sent one flying downhill and the other got pulled under my chassis.

Depends. Even with a huge aftermarket tank of a bumper a deer can potentially ruin your day. It all depends on how it's hit and what the deer does before the hit.
Here is my sister's car after she hit a deer a month ago. The deer's feet were planted on the ground so it basically bounced off the hood and went flying up and over and to the side of the road. Had it jumped in reaction it most likely would have ended up in the windshield. I've seen trucks with grill guards and Ruenel heavy duty bumpers take more damage than this tiny Jetta.
