TJ tried to creap up behind me trying to race on the highway...well, lets say he found out us 4-door JKers aren't slow as a snail like you'd think.
It was a friendly competition and we both ended up taking the same exit but he could never catch up. It was fun.
That thing pulls when you down shift to 3rd.

LOL .. I used to get crotch rockets wanting to race me when i'm riding the V-Rod. It doesn't happen much anymore, somebody always wants to see what a new model can do.
Good to know that you kept him in your rear view ... lol

You have to realize also, we have a 6000rpm redline, I would guestimate that you could probably do 6500-6800 if you were so inclined. what I am saying is, the top end in these are REALLY great! Much more top end than the 4.0 in my opinion.
Now don't go beating me up, I've had 'em all and was just noting my opinion.

It's got great pick up speed but not from start......I never driven the TJ so I wouldn't know how much difference it is...
But here's something I found....
www.autoweek.com/apps/...5/CHAMPCAR
2007 JK:
In straight-line performance, our test Jeep—a Wrangler Unlimited Sahara AWD—took 9.31 seconds to ramble from 0 to 60 mph, with the quarter-mile clocking in at 16.95 seconds and 79.4 mph.

2000 Wrangler:
0-60 MPH - 10.5 seconds

I had a TJ come up beside me look over in disgust and then speed up. Since it was just the two of us on the road I gave him a run for his money. I guess he was not as bad ass as he thought he was. You should have seen the look on his face when I not only caught up but passed him. Did you know a doorless JK will do 90 easy? Now I don't make it a habbit of doing this and a Jeep is not a race car but sometimes you just got to do what you have to.

I just picked up my 4door rubicon friday, im so pumped about it, i had to drive to TENN to get it from Tampa Fl. Anyway, i have been lurking here for a while posting and what not, and im telling you, my 4door rubi with the 6speed hauls...i have ridden in TJs and my jk is faster off the line and its faster top end...its got better passing power etc...i dont know what poeple were thinkin when they said it didnt have enough power...they are crazy. I usually start out in 2nd, and shift before 2100 rpms, and im pulling away from normal traffic easily.
Also, im getting 18-19 mpg in Tampa traffic...how awesome is that...and on the trip home i was getting 20-21. I cant waite till the motor gets fully broken in, id like to see 23 on the highway

I've got a black sahara 6sp w/ 4:10s and 35" BFG MT's and I drive that thing like a slot car. Off the line it's not to quick, but rev it and keep it in the sweet spot and it flys. 90mph on the highway and unless there is a cross wind it's very stable. Wait until you pass the 5k mile mark. It really seems to open up. Plus I have a K&N filter, and use Mobil 1 synthetic oil. She's fun!

light speed is to slow...
i'll 2nd that these JK's can zip. I love out running these chevy trailblazer POS that seem to be all over the place here that think they are all big and bad a**. oooh the looks i get when i pull up to them, then leave'em.
My all time favorites are when i out run an H2 or H3...
one thing that gets me is... my 92 s10 blazer will smoke my jeep's a** and never flinch. but thats because i've done some work on it . it'll leave a black mark going from 1st to 2nd. guess when i get the v8 for it, my jeep will get my Vortec (gasp! a GM engine in a jeep! )

I'll say my JK sahara with 4:1 is pretty fast for an SUV, nothing beats my old car....
