doors not allowed to be removed rant!
I asked my neighbour (who is a police officer) why it's illegal here in British Columbia to remove my jeep doors. He said that if the vehicle came with doors then it has to have doors on.
This makes sense for regular vehicles but Jeep doors were designed to come off just like hard tops where designed to come off but you never get a ticket for having your hard top off!

he's right if the certain parts were designed to help protect the person... but the doors and top, etc. were designed to protect against the elements only. the same reason of removing the top can be applied to the doors.

Is this completely true? How much do our doors weigh? I'm interested in finding out how much our doors actually do for our safety. If its only the elements, then why wont my dad let me take them off!

This may just be a provincial thing. When I was in Saskatchewan with my TJ I went around with doors off without any problem.
Every State or Province has their own laws. There are States that have some pretty ridiculous vehicle laws. Of course I'm living in Kentucky.. where anything is legal.

One time I went passed some RCMP fund raiser where there were about 20 of 'em on bikes (going across the province) escorted by 3 highway patrol cars while both honking and waving and I was still alright.
Although now you've ruined your ignorance plea... That's my plan when my luck runs out on one of the two days of the year when I'll have the chance to take my doors off.
