Downside of only getting the soft top?

I'll second the unlikely on 1500. When I got mine in Sept. the dealer had no idea how much the hard top was but he was guessing at least 1900 projecting from the price of the 2006 top.

I saw the price somewhere at $2000 or $2200 I think. I think it's cheaper and way less hassle to get the dual tops from the factory plus it'll be covered under the warranty if you have any leaking issues.

If only they had a jeep on the lot with dual tops when I left Outback 2 months ago I would be sitting pretty. I was not nearly patient enough to actually order my Jeep.

Very good point!!

The hard top itself is 1799 and the wiring harness is another 109..

The soft top that comes with the vehicle is $1189, we can assume that price is buried in the base model price.

To purchase a hard top separately from the link rm1515 posted is $1908, including wire harness.

To upgrade to hard top only is $695 (MSRP).

-1189
719 <---$24 more than upgrade to hard top only price.

Dual top option is $1585.

323

I can't get Jeepwarehouse to come up, which has MSRP listed along with their price, which is less. I could probably get more accurate figures from there. But, I'm guessing $1585 is slightly above cost for a hard top and it is marked up $323 (with wire harness) when purchased direct. It looks to me like they are giving you the soft top in the base model price and charging $1585 for the hard top with both tops. With hard top only, they are subtracting the soft top price from the hardtop upgrade price. Make any sense?

I'll just take your word for it that the best bargin to end up with both tops is to go with the dual tops.

Has anyone noticed that every accessory is starting out higher than the TJs. Much Higher. I realize it's new, and the manufacturers need to recoup their r&d costs, and there isn't much competition yet, but it still sucks.

Whats wrong is that the dealer wants $2000 for the hard top! Holy cow thats expensive! I don't understand why they show it as a less than 1K option but want to charge over 2K after the fact.

I want a hardtop for city life but grabbed my softtop JK being the impatient guy I am.

Ok, here is a question. Is Sailcloth standard on the 08 JK and is the Sunrider top Standard too? How in the heck can I tell if I have the sunrider version?
