There have been many threads on this before.

A lot of people think it's the CD player, when it's not. I took mine out and I still get the noise.

I'm still not 100% sure what it is, but it comes from under the hood in the fuse box area. Pop your hood, put the key into the ACC (or maybe it was the ON) position with the engine turned off and listen. Every few minutes it'll repeat the same sound.

The "under hood" sound occurs when the key is in, but there is also a sound that seems to be coming from inside the dash area when a door is opened. It's been bugging me too... it even happens when you open a rear door! not sure if it does it when the tailgate is opened.

I'm almost 100% sure it's the same sound. It will go off every few minutes. It's a weird Bzzzzzzz.

I love that this issue keeps coming back and nobody can answer it!
Sooner or later we have got to figure this one out.

Mine does it too. I thought it was the MYGIG. Im having the MYGIG taken out and a new stereo system put in. I guess Ill see if the noise goes away.

It's definitely not MYGIG. Happens in mine and I have just the single disc player. I can't figure it out. I'm pretty positive I hear the same noise when I turn the Jeep off too. The electrical system priming itself when the door opens then discharging when you shut down?

most definitely not mygig. I had the same sound with my single disk. Replaced it with an aftermarket... and I still have the sound.

I'm telling you... It's from the engine compartment. I don't know if it's "Discharge" or what... but it's not the head unit.

I was putting the new registration sticker in my window tonight (I got my custom plates today!) and the dome light would shut off after a few seconds. So I would turn the interior light knob and every time I did that, I'd hear the noise.

It'd be great to figure out what the heck this noise is. It doesn't bother me really but it would just be nice to diagnose the sound.
