Default EMERGENCY!!! Please read!!

My husband just called me from his off road trip in Attica, Il. He went through some water (if I know him it was A LOT of water) and now his jeep won't start. It will start with started fluid but NOT on it's own. If anyone out there can offer some advice or help him, call his cell at 313-205-3274. He's stranded!

Thanks!

pull the air filter out a wet filter wont let air in and tell him to pull the plugs and turn it over a few time to get water out and blow out the plug wires to get any water out of them

I hope he's not alone or anything. You first off need to get someone to tow him out. Second, the engine is probably flooded and needs to be dried before it can even try to start up again...so get it out of the water somehow! Third, if the engine is dry and it still won't start than maybe you might have to put in a new starter or the throttle could be flooded...

I don't know what else to tell you except he needs to get the JK on dry land and to a shop. If he's alone, he needs to start walking. If he's with someone, hopefully they have a winch or tow cable and can pull him out and wait as the Jeep dries up.

Other than that, I don't know what else to tell you.

if the airbox was full of water, tell him to stop trying to start it. if he has tools, tell him to remove all the spark plugs, then try to start it. if water got sucked in through the air intake, this may let the engine spit it out. if water did get sucked into the air intake and he keeps trying to start it without taking the spark plugs out, he will cause some major damage to the engine.

Thank God he's not alone. He's actually with some people from this forum and a Jeep Club out of Chicago. I guess he's at a gas station so he was either pushed, pulled or towed. Hopefully some of you have called his cell that have been through this to help him out.

Thanks everybody!

do a complete oil change before even trying to start the engine. if he tries to start it it will suck water all through the engine just like i did. and then $9700 later i had a new engine put it becuase of it being hydrolocked...

do what was said above have him pulled out and do an imediate oil change and check everything before trying to start....

sorry to hear it... i know how bad it sucks!!

EDIT: keep us posted on what happens please....
YOU PAID 9700 for a new jk engine? I've seen others here pay 4700 how in world did u pay over double that. A hemi is only a little more than that.
