Question extended warranty advice?

Anyone got any advice on the purchase of one from Jeep? Just rolled over 36K and am thinking of getting one. Is the price negotiable?

thanks

Was giving it a thought, as our Jk will remain mostly stock, as I bought it for the wife as a Christmas gift back in 06. Really going to look into it now. I just recieved a card from Chrysler for the service contract up to 7 years and 100K, at 50% off the retail price.

The prices are negotiable. I went through chryslerwarrantys.com . They are a dealership that sells the factory warranty extensions at a lower cost than any local dealerships around here. I would give them a call.

When I called Fidelity they said ANY tire or lift beyond factory specs voids the warranty on drivetrain and engine. So instead of arguing with them about it, I sold back my extended warranty. I didn't want to pay for aggravation.

Don't waste your money. The extended warranty does not cover modified vehicles.

The extended warranty that I have through Chrysler is, in fact, the manufacturer's warranty - extended. So if your modifications will void your original warranty then yes this probably won't cover it. However, if what you are doing doesn't void your original warranty this will be perfectly fine.

I would never "modify" a vehicle to a point to void a factory warranty. One of the main reasons I purchase a new vehicle - IS FOR THE WARRANTY. If I was going to do that, I would purchase a vehicle with no warranty, do what I want, save thousands and not worry about the warranty. That's what I've done 5 other times.

I'd read the contract again if I were you. A warranty extension is not the same as a factory warranty and doesn't have the same protection. But, hey if you want to waste your money don't let me stop you.

Don't waste your money. They barely cover stuff under the regular warranty and with the extended there is a $100 "diagnostic fee" every time you bring it in. I hate Dealerships.

Sorry. Again mis-information. Warranties are purchased with 100, 50, 10 or 0 fees. You select the one you want. Additionally, 100 is less than any repair you'll have once your warranty expires.

Sure it is, unless you go to the dealer and they charge you a hundred bucks and tell you its normal or "fix" something and it doesn't solve the problem and then you have to go back and spend another 100 until its fixed.

Also if your vehicle is modified in any way, don't bother. My dealer doesn't want to replace my bad steering box due to my mud tires, which are the same size as stock.
