New jeep owner only 2k miles on my stock X. I packed up the family for our first real off-road trip last Friday night. The plan was to do the Holcomb Valley north of Big Bear Lake CA. We stayed in Running Spring and planed to enter through Green Valley. Well the area went up in flames and is still burning. I had this trip planed for over two months.

All was not lost we ended up doing the Willow Creek Jeep trail and had a blast. The wife really got into it, (yes - tires, lift, bumpers here we come!) she started saying “lets take the blue trails”. I even got a roller coaster yell when we made it up the hardest hill of the day and my 6 year old kept saying “were going to die dad” so I knew he was having fun. I got some great pictures and video of the fire and fire dropping planes. All in all we had a great time and are ready for more!

 

Sounds like a blast! Shame your destination was on fire though :/
