I'd go take some pics of modified ones at a dealership, bring the pic to them and say they are sold that way. And if that doesn't work, ductape some homade mudflaps outta krispykreme boxes to your jeep and show it to them. Tell them if it's good enough for them to eat out of, it's good enough for you to sling shit on. haha JJ don't really do that mudflap thing.

On the other hand, I wonder how many times he's (CHP) been called out to an area for someone who took a rock into their windshield and taken a report so the person had paperwork for their insurance claim.

Maybe this is his way of preventive maintenance, not siding with either of ya, just playing devil's advocate.

I don't know, just saying.....

Tearflex makes a nice set. here in Utah you have to have mudflaps if half of the tire (from the ground to the bottom of the bumper.) I had to get them to pass inspection. There are small town cops that write this ticket here.

Depends on area, and state. Some states don't require mudflaps except on commercial trucks, some require them on any vehicle with wheels that don't fit inside the wheelwell, or ride height, etc., etc. Just depends on where you are, then it's also up to the indidual Officer to enforce said rules, some don't, some do.

Like a fisherman, they don't have to catch all the fish in the pond to be succesful

Wow, what a jerk!

A fix-it ticket from these parts means that regardless of fixing it or not you still have to pay the fine.

My condolences for you being on the brunt end of a LEO's bad day.
