Future Jeeps may be made by one of the Axis powers
Well I really have no problem buying foreign only because these companies have to build something that people want and that is one of the reasons why there vehicles last a lot longer than ours. For an american company to go foreign like this our government should close the doors on chrysler and take all monies that are left. This is proof that chrysler can not build anything that will last or be a problem for there customers. What an embarrassment only shit like this can only happen in the USA and people want to know why we all get laughed at. Chrysler should no longer be in business.
The J8 is manufactured in the USA but assembled in Egypt (at least they were) for allies in the middle east.

It's not your standard JK. The have leafs on the rear for added carry capacity and thicker skins.
You missed a step. Daimler sold Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management in 2007 for $7.4 billion dollars. Cerberus were the owners until the 2009 bankruptcy. Cerberus is a New York City based private equity firm.
The happy few of us who have JKs built during that time have the only all-American Jeeps built since 1998.

If you still have your window sticker, you might want to check the parts content section. I'm guessing it's less than 75% US/Canada sourced, and that's based on cost.
Don't forget, Chrysler is partially owned by the UAW, quality? American? loan guarantee and bailouts are the same thing, it still needs to be repaid.

HH,
In fact I do still have the sticker, and 75%? Please, it's 56% (I have a stick, so the transmission is Deutsch). Being in manufacturing, I am used to these things and generally untroubled by them. The 'happy few' comment was just in fun.
That's ownership though, and the OP was talking about manufacturing. I certainly hope that does not move. The economic issues aside, I get quite a bit of pleasure waving at the factory when driving my JK past on the way to Michigan.
I will say that over the last 35 years I have owned quite a few cars made in Japan, Germany, Sweden, and the US, some costing three times as much as I paid for my Jeep. None were as trouble free or generally as fun a experience as my JK. Whoever signs the checks, I hope that folks in the future will be able to say the same thing.
Cheers,
Russ

I see what you did there.
