Default Gas mileage difference between 3.21 and 3.73

I have an Unlimited Sahara on order with the 3.21. I am probably about 4-5 weeks from getting it. It will have a 6 speed manual.

I have the option to get one with the 3.73 right now, but am concerned about the difference in gas mileage.

I plan to use this vehicle as a daily driver. My commute is 55 miles each way on the highway. I will do some 4-wheeling with it but due to my location I do not anticipate it to be extreme terrain. More mud than anything. I will also tow my ATV with it. The machine with the trailer weighs about 1,200 pounds.

What is the right choice for me in this situation? I am very uneducated about the gearing ratios and such.

Can you tell me what kind of fuel economy you are getting with your vehicle and what you have in it?

Thanks for your help!

Well I have a '07 with 4.10 gears and I get 17-18mpg around town and about 22mpg on the highway. If you are planning on towing of any kind go with the 3.73 gears for the increase in torque. With 3.73 gears you should get better mileage than I do but this will also relate to how heavy your right foot is... I hope this helps you out!
