Default Getting rained on

Have a 2007 jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited and was wondering, is everything on the inside water proof and ok to get rained on? Everything from the interior seats to the dash and stock screen radio and speakers?

I've been caught in the rain with the top and doors off. It was raining so hard that the rain filled my floor mats and cargo mat with 1/4 of water. I don't recommend it. All systems still work. Took a while to dry things out, but no issues...so far.

I was caught in the rain yesterday with top down and doors off, except we had a 20% chance of rain and I was at the gym while it poured. So needless to say my entire JK got a thorough cleaning. This morning on the way to work my steering column controls won't work at all and the stereo is still acting funny. Praying that it works by noon today when i dries out. If not, on my way to the stealership to see what can be done under warranty.

Hate to tell you this but rain soaked electronics is not a warranty item.

Just because the top and doors come off doesn't make the interior waterproof....it's a Jeep not a boat

I'm like a hawk with the weather when my top is off. Anything above 10% chance of rain means my top is on

My plan is to run with the doors off the entire summer, but I'm smart enough to flip the top back on if I get caught in a storm. With the top on and doors off, barely any rain gets in.

I wouldn't risk driving Topless and doorless in a storm. On top of the stereo, you've also got the clock spring to worry about, just put the top back on and you'll be okay.

Yeah, I am in your area and it came down real hard for an hour.

Is it just your radio, set up controls on the steering wheel that are not working, or do you mean your light controls, wipers, and turn signal controls?

You would have thought Jeep would have made things more waterproof.

I've never driven topless in a storm and don't plan to. As soon as I got my stuff at the gym I ran out and threw my top up to salvage what I could. Today is hot and sunny and will hopefully get everything dried out and keep me from having to go to the stealership. The only way I would ever WANT to go back is to get a Crush 6sp if I could afford it! haha Love that color and wish it was available when I got my '12...well cheers to a sunny day!

it really depends on how well the dash is sealed. once water gets in and on the electronics any small amount of water can kill it. The water just needs to be in the right spot when power is applied and zap...... you will let the smoke out....
I wouldn't turn on the radio if you suspect the rain to have gotten into the dash and beyond. Let it dry out first then turn it on. One thing that would help seal the connections from moisture would be conformal coat, which I highly doubt anything in our Jeep has been coated with... especially a commercial radio.

I also would highly doubt any warranty would be given for this.
probably didn't say anything everyone already knows.

I just picked up and tent floor print for a 4 man tent on REI outlet for my emergency cover.. I don't plan on using it while driving but for throwing on the Jeep when the summer rains come it should work out.
