Getting ready to buy
...an Unlimited X. How close are dealers sticking to MSRP? What with the end of the model year and the economy being what it is (at least in people's minds) I'm kind of curious how motivated the dealers are to, well, deal. I'm in Western Oregon, if that matters. Any opinions?

You just have to negotiate, other than in places like SoCal that seem be crazy,
I think it is easy to get a good price, at or below invoice. I know dealers in the STL area have alot of Xs to sale.Check the Jeep.com site since they ofer different incentives based on your locale. Just be firm and they will see it your way.
I would be looking at Invoice pricing and not MSRP. They want to sell you a Jeep and even at Invoice they will still make their money.
Go to Edmunds.com or JKtools.com and see what the invoice is, compared to MSRP, and come in ready to deal.
Don't be afraid to walk out if they don't want to make you the deal you want. There are plenty of dealers out there and, if it comes down to it, you can order your Jeep from any Jeep dealer that is willing to give you your price.
Have fun, remember it's just a big game.

I'm planning to get an unlimited X next week. just waiting for payday
Anyway, I was looking into ordering a Sahara online a little while ago, and their no hassle/haggle price was $500 below invoice.. but I had to pay to have it delivered, I had to order it from the factory because in their state the emissions where different, and that meant a 6-8 week wait. Plus, I couldn't trade in my current car which meant I had to sell it myself, and wouldn't have that money as a downpayment because I'd need to keep it till the Jeep arrived so I could get to work.
So, I'm just gonna print out the quote and go to the dealer I was originally going to work with and say "gimmie a deal kinda like this and I'll buy it. Don't go back and forth to your boss 10 times with different prices, just gimme your end all be all best price now."
There's a few online dealers that sell for low prices, I dunno if we're allowed to post links so if you want URLs just PM me. they're great for research and stuff, or maybe you'll end up wanting to just buy right from them and skip your local guy
