Ghost Headlights
You would be amazed .... but , Chrysler has put some pretty amazing little gadgets into your Jeep..... They have been doing these for a long time
If you accidently leave your headlights on ( like raining during the day )and go inside after a few minutes they will shut themselves off so not to run the battery down..
If you accidently leave the door open ( you know the interior lights stay on and will drain the battery if forgotten all nite !!) ... well the smart little JEEP will shut them off before it drains your battery
If you leave the keys in the ignition and hit the door lock button on the door manually ...... the doors will not lock.......so you don't accidently lock the keys in the vehicle.
Back in the 1960's you had to lock the mopars with the key in the door ( you could not just push the lock knob down ) .......( if you lock the door with the knob and close the door the knob will pop back up upon closing) ......so you don't lock the keys in the vehicle.

you turn the little knob for instrument light level all the way one way and the interior lights stay on, all the way the other way and they won't come on even with the door open.
I just experienced this same problem. I hadn't driven my jeep for about 4-5 days. We had a small snowstorm earlier in the day. At 1 am, my wife came home from a christmas party and woke me up and told me my jeep headlights were on.
I thought she was just messing with me or was drunk, but when I looked out the window they were, in fact, on. Again, car hadn't been driven and the keys were OUT of the ignition. When I went our to turn them off, the switch on the stalk was in the "off" position, but the lights were still on. No matter what I did, the lights would NOT turn off.
Overnight, the battery eventually drained. I jumped it in the morning, and still the lights remained on. When driving the jeep to the dealer, they suddenly turned off by themselves. I got home thinking it was over and self resolved, but 2-3 hours later I look out into the driveway and low and behold, the lights are on again and I can't get them to turn off.
Any ideas?
