Default is going w/o doors safe

Well im 17 and I want to take the doors off of my jeep, but since my dad makes the payments i have to listen to him and he constantly says no. He finally said today that if the tube doors provided any safety, i could take them off. Are they safer than with no doors at all? Thanks.

It's in the manual or on the visor but the doors aren't designed to restrain or hold passengers in the vehicle, just protection from the elements.

Just cut a deal with your with your Dad, and limit the roads and speed you will travel on until he lightens up a bit. Also, first thing to do is take him for a doors off ride to see if he feels his safety is being compromised.

no doors, tube doors about the same kinda protection...the tube doors are just more to keep things like body parts in so i guess they would be more safe my mom hates it when i take the doors off cause she thinks its unsafe but i just ignore her.lol

Spend a little time and look at the doors. For a side impact they are not going to do much. Go door less

Seat belts hold you in the seat, not the doors. However in the event of a crash or rollover, the doors would provide more protection from arms and legs flopping out.

Tell him you need a lift and bigger tires, that way you won't get T-boned, they'll just go underneath you!

It's still safer than a motorcycle...

Good call. You also need rock rails and new bumpers for amor.

or the other choice since you are 17 and most teens think they are bad is leave go over to a friends place take door off and put back on when you go home , but really try to get your dad out on a ride with the doors off and hope he changes his view , my wife didnt like it at first but she got used to it

Parts and debris hitting you in a collision without doors or tube doors is more prevalent. I prefer to keep my arms and legs in my rig, I've yet to take mine off, but would pickup some half doors at a decent price.

I certainly don't condone taking the doors off elsewhere and 'dad' not knowing. People find things out, and it is not respecting the vehicle HE is paying for...for YOU. The only alternative is to start taking over payments, or ride by the rules. Simple as that..

I don't think that tube doors provide more safety. May be you should look into Bestop's Element doors with the paintable skin. Then, as your dad gets comfortable with half doors, you could take the door skins off and leave the tube doors. Then, when he gets comfortable with the tubes, next thing you know, you're doorless!
