Don't like either. Don't like any grill guards on JK. The grill guard makes JK's front look too "clean". I like the look of exposed radiator. Besides, it's much easier to clean the radiator without the grill guard... mud and dust gets in all over the radiator even with the guard.

Well, that said, if I have to choose between the two, I'd choose vertical.

That kit is expensive though compared to the build it yourself look, but on perusing the site linked via the build it yourself link, did not find a look that was quite like it either....so not sure whether pure visual appeal to me personally will win out, or $$$ and something close.
I have the Mr. Grille inserts in black and am really happy with how they look. While I do like the gutter guard look, I chose to not spend time gluing stuff inside my grill that may or may not hold. If I had though I voted for the Vertical mounting of it. Just looks better to me.

I like the look of the grille inserts, however I am scared sh&tless to put 'em in. We had a couple of TJ's come in to the dealer with overheating problems in the past, and it was because of the inserts. One even had the cylinder head work denied under warranty because the district rep saw the inserts on the vehicle. Am I being a little too wary about this?
