Default Hardtop roof rack.

Does anyone know of a way to mount a roof rack directly to a hard top? I saw one at SEMA but have not heard or seen anything about it since.

Wife saw this 2 days ago and graciously snapped a photo of it with her phone. I have NO IDEA who makes it, and personally don't recommend it unless it can be mounted more rearward.

Thule makes racks like that. They mount to the gutter on the side. I think you just tighten them on and can take them off when you want. Once you have the two rails you can put anything you want up there.

That Set-up in the pic is a Yakima Rack and Yakima basket. Yes Thule makes one as well called a Play-pen.
As far as moving it back further, you end up creating quite a vacuum behind the Jeep and can watch your gas go flowing down the river.

I have the Thule one.. and Boy is it handy. (with a family) Camping, or just traveling the extra space is great. Strollers.. Kayaks.. they all fit.

Default It's mine

i checked the gas milage and were it is located now i didn't show any decrease in milage. I do plan on moving it back further, but the attachment i need for the third bar is on order(should arrive on tuesday) when it comes the basket will end just in front of the rear end and the front of the basket will be inline with the back of the front doors, thus allowing me to remove the front roof panels when the weather warms up.

it is a yakima loadwarrior with an extension, and two rain gutter towers, there will be a third bar supporting the rack that will mount with the rubber feet. the feet are aprox 8"x4" and since i wont be putting alot of weight up there right now i don't think there will be a problem. most of the weight will be in the form of whitewater kayaks and will be directly over the raingutter mounts.

I'm looking for a rack too. I need to put lightweight Kevlar canoe on a new 4 door..... I can't stress the sides of the Kevlar so I need support front back and side rails.
Closest I can find so far is made by Lange.

Just talked to Yakima and they said that they WILL be coming out with a rack system for the JK sometime early summer. I have everything I need from them just the mounts to put it on.
