Default Hate the Acceleration

Hey Guys

Mid range Acceleration SUCKS!! I couldn't pass a stock honda at 65 MPH. Went to floor it- engine roars and an I could have walked faster for the 10 seconds it takes to hit 75.
He saw me try and pass and walks away. I wasn't racing -just wanted to pass him b/c he was going under 65 alot.

My production date is 12/06

I have an airaid. Im not a speed demon in the jk but would like it to move when
I hit the gas.

Jet Chip???? Anything?????

I was worried about acceleration, too. However, my manual accelerates FAST from a stop, and is pretty good about passing at 65-75mph.

You're right... you might be stuck.

Anyone that says the JK accelerates fast from a stop,or any speed needs thier head examined..They also need to get thier butt in a car with over 400 hp and then you will understand what accelerating fast is..

I like my JK,and I didn't buy it to be as fast as my ZO6. I bought it to tool around and have fun in.It does that job just fine..It is nowhere in the same galaxy as fast and never will be..

not true. i come from a lifted 4.0 TJ with 32 12.5's and 3.73 gearing. my JK is a ******* speed demon after that.

i wouldnt say it accelerates fast from a STOP, but my 4door 6sp does fairly well tooling around town in 2nd-5th gear

i was gonna advise u to let it rev up to about 3000 rpm before shifting, but then i saw u had an auto

Guess i need my head examined then. the acceleration from a stop isnt great, but it is far from dismal. Once it is rolling and if you are used to driving it, around 25-2600rpm's, it'll accelerate fast enough for anything i need it to do. It'll do about 20 to 80+ on the onramps near my house. Will it beat a 400+HP car? no. and i dont care. If i wanted that, i woulda bought that.

People rarely compare a '71 Cuda to a jeep in the terms of trail crawling, i dont see a fair comparison in reverse. I think it is pretty unfair to compare the Jeep's accelration against a road dedicated high HP cruiser. *shrugs* but then again... I still dont care. It has all i will ever need at this point. If i want more, I'll add more.

I bought this for exploring and cruising around with the top down and getting to some hunting & fishing spots, general trail crawling, and going back/forth to work in bad weather. it Accels at all of those. I certainly dont want to go fast in any of those criteria (well, except maybe coming home from work!)

Yup, that might have been me, i put up a post about how i'm really satisfied with my jet chip stage II. Its still not what my TJ used to be, but then again i had taken the motor apart on my TJ and built it up to around 300 HP... Stock however, i feel my Jk out performs what my stock TJ was like, other than that torque right of the line.... but once rolling a bit, the JK though much heavier, does great. even before my jet chip, I kinda raced a cherokee one day down a main road around me, it had the 4.0 and he thought he'd try to take me on. Well, he definately jumped off the line better than i did, but i caught up and even managed to pass him. I was happy... i still crave more ponies, but its good enough for me, for now anyway.
