Hello , I'm new hear and need to no I'm not crazy
I was originally in the market for an M3, but I live in the northeast and that's simply insane as a single vehicle. So, I'm finally getting my Jeep, and once it's paid off, then I'll plan on a second, sporty vehicle. But I have a funny feeling I'll still be driving my Jeep more.
You aren't crazy...I did the same...wait...maybe we are both crazy.
Really though...the logic works...I needed practicality (well as practical for unpractical as you can get)....the 4 door has 4 regular sized seats...storage space... and it is still fun...go offroad...take off the top..the doors...and cruise.
I find myself less angry on the morning commutes either....knowing that I can't zip through traffic zig zagging if I wanted to...I've learned to just accept and cruise..peacefully while blasting music.
My blood pressure has gone down....ok Im 25...so that's not a fear...but you get my point.
Not sure how rolling up in a lifted 4 door will go with client meetings though...hahah.

A similar situation to me. I always had sports cars, but always wanted a Wranger since I was 16... well, I finally have one when I traded my 04 Crossfire in for my Rubi. Lovin' the decision so far!
I'm originally from Erie, PA. Grew up right on the lakeshore. Made many trips to Buffalo growing up to the "big" mall (Walden Galleria) off I-90.
Anyway, I would say test drive one several times.
There are lots of pros to owning a Jeep - but coming from a sports car world (much of which I'm not very familiar with) it will definitely be a change of pace.
The Jeep will be so much better for the Buffalo winters. Can't imagine driving a Porsche around up there. I had a Cherokee in high school and used to throw it in 4WD to get out of my driveway some mornings. Lake effect snow, baby!
Anyway, not going to ramble too much here. Test drive the Jeep, see how you like it. See if the salesman will let you take the top down, go for the "full experience" if it feels right to you. Don't buy it unless you're 100% sure about it. A vehicle purchase - any vehicle purchase - should not be done on impulse.
Make sure the Jeep model you select has all the options you're looking for. Personally I would go with a hardtop model and get the soft top later ... or get the dual-top option if you can find a Jeep that you like with that option. My only regret with my 2 door X was that it came with only the hard top. While the hard top is essential in the Northeast during the winter (my opinion) nothing beats having the soft top for summer. I solved that problem by finding a brand new soft top being sold by a local buyer on eBay for $500. So now I have both tops. Hard top for winter, soft in the summer. Can't beat it. Just make sure you have somewhere to store one of the tops when not in use!
Anyway, good luck with your purchase ... and enjoy the new Jeep lifestyle you're about to enter into!
