After coming off the trail I developed a scraping noise with each revolution of my rear driver tire. Tightened everything in the rear and only thing I found was my rear swaybar links were a little loose. Noise is still there. I took the rear wheels off and brakes, pads all seem to be seated properly. Cleaned everything and put wheels back on and its still there. Thought maybe I had a warped rotor so I moved driver rotor to passenger and still have the noise. Anyone have any ideas ? Again this noise began as soon as I got off the trail. I have the 3.5 RK lift with 37"s. Thanks in advance.

 

Check under the dust cover for your rear brake, I've had a rock get stuck in there before and it made a similar sound. Good luck

I had an annoying rotational squek. Replaced motors. Cleaned. Re torqued. Noise would go away with when I breaked. Turns out my axle flange was bent. I will see if I still have the videos that showed before and after I replaced rear axle shaft. Hasn't made a peep since I swapped the shafts. Funny thing was the manufacture of the shaft said the runout on my bent flange was normal!

 

did you check the parking brake??



edit:...... nevermind, I see you swaped rotors side to side so yo would have seen the parking brake pads then...... oh well, I'm useless

 

I had the same thing happen to me with my front driver's side wheel. Took my wheel and brake caliper off......then found a tiny rock logged between the dust cover and rotar. Seems to be a common problem.

 

Noise goes away when I brake as well. How did you determine it was the flange ?

 

pop the tire off and the brakes/caliper.

When the Jeep is lifted, put it in Drive and let it idle.

Look for something like this: (clicky the image, its a video)




Look close, you'll see it. That's all it takes!

Mine did the exact same thing. While Braking....the noise went away. When I took the wheel off and turned the rotar the scraping always happened near the same spot of the rotation. Take a flash light, then use your other hand to pull that dust cover out some, and look good between the rotar and dust cover. If it's a rock, the rock might even drop out when you bend the dust cover.
