JK TalkGeneral discussion forum regarding thoughts, opinions and rumors about the Jeep JK Wrangler or related subjects that don't quite fit in the Modified, Stock or Electronics forums.
Hello, I am new to the forum. I recently have a Jeep JK 07 automatic transmission. Since yesterday I am hearing a knock in the transmission when the vehicle is starting or just before coming to a full stop. I don't know much about cars but I thought I'd check the transmission oil.I really don't know if it's at the right levels. It seems to me that it's overfilled 😅.
The other thing is that reviewing the forum I see that the oil lines normally have leaks I think I'm suffering from that leak too but I'm not sure. I'll leave photos to see if they can help me. Thank you
Welcome to the forum. There are the Hot (fluid warmed up) and the Cold (has not been started) levels.. Fluid should be between the 2 dots.. Check the owners manual on checking HOT. Yes the pictures show some seepage on at the hose clamps. I do not recall having 2 "worm" type clamps on the hoses from factory? Is it probable that prior work was performed and 2 clamps were installed? Does not appear to be a massive leak. As for the NOISE, IMO get checked by a competent well rated transmission shop.
that tranny dipstick is one of the harder things to read. make sure jeep is at operating temp and that your checking the level while in park, on level ground, and while jeep is running. a lot of times the fluid will be higher on one side of the stick, but I believe the accurate reading is where it is covering both sides. When i say that i don't mean sides as in front of the stick and back of the stick, i mean that on one of the flat sides it's covering from left to right.
Thank you for your prompt response, today I changed the transmission oil and filter as well as the transmission oil line. The problem is that I feel a little bump when you accelerate or brake, But unfortunately the knock continues, the mechanic told me that there were particles in the oil, which means that the transmission is near the end. I am thinking of a new remanufactured transmission, which one do you recommend? Or maybe I'm overreacting and can live with that bump, It is the vehicle of daily use .
