Default Highway Speed with Freedom Panels Out?

Hi all -

Saw this asked a couple times but only one or two people would ever respond.

Is it safe to drive a 2-dr JK with the Freedom Panels out on the highway (i.e. 65-70mph)? I have a 2008 Sahara.

Basically, I just want to make sure the rest of the hardtop will not fly off on the highway...one of those things I can't afford to assume wrongly.

Many thanks for your responses to a noobish question, the Jeep materials just aren't very instructive.

I drive mine on the freeway at 75-80 mph, no problems yet.

Yes you will be fine with the freedom tops off at any Speed, the rest of the top is bolted down. Have fun

As long as you don't have all the other 10mm bolts and torx screws removed you should be fine

I travel from Akron to Pittsburgh every weekend, a 2 hour drive going 80mph. I've never had a problem...

I think the only thing I have seen with parts of any top off. Is they said for my 07 soft top, when u flip just the front back you need to take down the back window when you go over 40. But for my hardtop I've driven it in all the combos.

Done this many times as high as 80. Never raised the rear window and did with both the door windows up and down, not a single shudder from the rest of the hard top. The wind buffeting can be annoying with the windows down though. :P

Edit: this is assuming all the hard top bolts for the main part of the top in place. If you are looney enough to take those out.. you are on your own.

Many thanks once again. Checked the bolts and they're all in solid, so I think the panels are coming out for my 70-mile round trip commute tomorrow.
