i'm taking the JEEP emblem off... i guess the big "W" will show on the winch and see how that looks over the LOD emblem.

if i can ever get all the bug guts off the jeep...

oh, could a guy mount that bumper/winch combo by himself..? without too many lost knuckles?

Yeah im with you in taking the jeep emblem off...thats next on my "to do" list. I took all of the side stickers off, the "x" and "wrangler", and put the "JK" sticker on...major improvment.

I mounted the LOD stubby and my winch by myself with no help at all. The hardest part is putting the actual bumper on while alligning the eight bolts without knocking them out. I did it by placing the bumper on a small adjustable garage stool i bought a pep boys a while back. Adjusted the stool to the right hight and rolled it into place. Let me know if you need an extra hand....or if you just want to borrow my pep boys stool lol.

The bumper is very easy to install, and now that i've done it once and figured out all of the tricks...i could mount another one with a winch in about three hours or less (or at least i'd like to think so lol)

Hey Chuck,
Thanks for the offer, i might get the wifey to help, just to keep her in shape.

she's kinda handy like that...

i didnt get the skid plate yet... all i need is more weight to drag around on a daily driver, but i DO plan to add it later... ( i retire in a few months and wont have the long drive..)

I deffinately want the peace of mind, of having the winch... (and a place to add some more lights... and pretty much just to be spending MONEY..!!)

Stored you number in the phone...
we were at Calico weekend before last, spent 3 days there... we didnt do the hard trails, I thought it was called Odessa Canyon, nice trip all the way around.
I'm hoping my bumper shows up this weekend, so i can get it and the winch installed... Wifey is getting over a bug, and kid has company over... so i doubt we'd make this one.
BUT... we do appreciate the offer.
We may take the hard top/doors off and run around near home.
( Honda Canyon is like 1/2 mile out the driveway) that way i can dump the kids off when they get bored. We still have 9/10ths of it to check out.

We'll catch you guys on one here soon.
Thanks
and get lots of pics

Yeah i hear ya about the extra weight. I only got the skid plate now because i have the electric sway bar disconect motor i dont want to rip off. I'm waiting a bit to re measure the front end to see how much it's sagging, but i can tell it is just by looking at it.

if the bumper has not been shipped yet, you might want to call lod and confirm that the winch will mount centered in the bumper--i have a lod bumper with a warn 9.5ti and neither of the two sets of mounting holes allow the winch to mount centered in the bumper (it sits just to the right). its not too bad, but if it will be an issue to you, you might want to get with lod before you start the install.

how far off center is it..? thats odd. You would think the 9.5ti would be pretty standard as far as winches go...?

i wonder if the bumper you got was drilled off center?

which bumper do you have? the stubby?

then again... they do have the winch motor to compensate for, when mounting between the frame rails, so i could see where it could be a little off to one side.

either way, its still between the frame rails... for more of a straight pull.
its down/out of the way of the radiator, more protected from damage...
maybe less likely to catch the eye of a "would be thief"?

anyone else feel the winch holes are too far off center????
