The drake hood latches work great. A bit pricey, but I have not had another instance of hood flutter since installing them.

Default The zip ties fixed it

I don't see how taking the spring out will do anything. The problem is with the rubber bands stretching. I'll try out the zip tie trick today and let you know how it goes.
I tried the zip tie trick and on my trip up to Buffalo, NY I did not ahve any "oh my god" moments. I'd call this fixed.

I have the Daystar hood latch rubber and over the long weekend the seam on the driver side rubber ripped right through. Scared the $h17 out of me. Hood didn't move much but the potential was there. Building my own latches. I'll post what I come up with.

I had a Daystar fail as well. Of course they replaced right away, but it was surprising. Have a 2012 now and the issue is much imporved, but not completely eliminated.

I've always been surprised that very few people use the Rampage locking adjustable tension hood hold downs.. they look awesome, hold the hood down VERY snug, both lock! I love em

Default DIY hood latches

Went with this thread as a general guide.

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-w...latchs-233682/

I used 5/16" instead of 1/4" bolts but that's only because the mounts on the fender and hood were the Daystar mounts so that's what they were using. I painted mine black. Waiting for it to dry... I was able to find all the parts I needed and Macs Hardware (midwest chain) for about $40. Not terrible considering the piece of mind that comes with KNOWING that the hood is going to disintegrate before these fall apart.

Default Hood Latches

Nice Mod rhyguy and owntmeal4life. I was going through some really heavy winds and it felt like the hood was going to come off. I installed the Drake Billet Hood latches and never had a problem after that. You can always do your own mods.
