Default Hood latch fail tonight

I just had a hood latch snap on my way back from Colorado this evening. Has anyone else seen this? The rubber literately snapped in half while passing an oncoming semi doing 65 (posted speed limit) on a two lane road. The wind was only about 8 mph. Scared the crap out of me, but the other hood latch and the safety latch caught it. I had to drive the last 150 miles at 50 mph and slow down/pull over for all other semi's.

2012 with 21,000 miles.

I am going to have a word with Jeep tomorrow in case you were wondering.

With that said, what's the best aftermarket latch?

Rugged Ridge on both my jeeps. Love them, love the look. Hit the bolts with clear coat to keep them looking new/prevent rust

Just installed Daystar. I liked rugged ridge but these were way cheaper. Got of Amazon with package slightly damaged for about $18.

how do the daystars work? Just put the factory latch on the end? is it a solid material?

Yep, pretty straightforward install. They are much tighter than OEM and wont allow the hood to flutter at highway speeds.

Product info: Daystar? - Driven by Design

Same as stock and way more stiffer. Comes with replacement screws and lock-tite. Very happy with that purchase.
