Default hood straps?

WtF?? I had an 07 and thought all you guys were whinning about the hood bounce.. Now my 07 is scrap and my replacement 08 has about 3600 miles on her, all I can say is WTF! The hood bounces around like crazy on the highway! I've only been on the highway a couple times since I got it but yesterday I was heading up the turnpike at 75-80 and went to pass a semi,, I thought the hood was coming off.. Now I understand.. I'm putting on zip ties tonight and ordering the daystar replacements!

Yeah it was pretty scary when we went out west in October. High cross winds and tractor trailer turbulence across Texas and New Mexico..

I had purchased one of the center hood locks and brought it with me when we left because I didn't have time to install before. That was the first thing I did when we arrived at our destination. I also removed the spring as some others were doing at the time.

I'll have to check out the replacement latches, as I'm a bit leery of the plastic and rubber for the long run.

Get the Daystar ones, I just drove 1,500 miles in my JK from UT to CA to UT with lots of wind. Not once did my hood flutter or lift on me. Well worth the $.

Is this an 07 JK Issue? I don't have this hood flapping issue on my 08 JK.

I thinks its a jeep by jeep issue,, as my 07 it was no issue at all,, I even had that up to 100mph,, but my 08 at 70-75 scares the crap outta me if a truck goes past..

Default Daystars fixed the problem.

Mine had the flutter, I fixed it with the vacuum hose under the seal, then it loosened up again and fluttered. The Daystar hood latches seem to have fixed the problem, and they do not strecth, so they should last. I drove about 200 miles on the highway yesterday with no movement. Can't go wrong for 30 bucks.

I did the zip-tie mod. Can barely tell that they are even there. And it stopped the bounce cold. I think I'll wait to see if any further mod's are needed.

Mine did not do it at first and now it has started. Not as pronunced as some have it but I figure what happens is use of the latches and age loosens them a bit. Some are more loose than others but isn't that the way of things????
