If I had to guess, its the hinge on the top part of the center console.

I usually keep my gum in a cup holder or in the area on top of the radio. Mind you my summer is usually in the mid twenties so it doesn't usually get hot enough to melt.

I have dropped dash screws I there a few times.. Worst think I ever lost was my iPhone when I was offroad bouncing around an it fell down the bristles of my ebrake to only find it a week later and havering to pull the center console. :eek:
