Huge price increases in Jeep JK parts - Quadratec Catalog
Got the right!!! You make money from the store front first, then you make money on web sales and then you have this forum. No mfg in their right mind will stop selling you in this economy no less to a company that supplies AFTERMARKET PARTS. Just because you gave someone a good deal on a forum your cut off, PLEASE GET REAL. This a hobby, none of the things we do to our rigs are needed, PERIOD.
The reason I'm here is so that someone can contact me directly for a better price, with customer service issues, or just ask generalized questions. But I am still held to certain guidelines and rules that I have to follow. What you may want, I may not be allowed to give. I price match competitors, give free shipping, and run special deals on items.
Without getting too much off topic though, the OP was referring to a price increase in our catalog that was due to the manufacturer raising the pricing standard. Same product? Yes. Same material costs? Maybe not. We only retail it, so they aren't obligated to tell us the reason it increased. However, we are obligated to reflect that increase on the date they tell us to do so.
I really hope that this gives a bit more insight. I'm here to help the forum members!

It's not only quadratec. Dually d2 driving lights at Northridge used to be 299 and now are 380. Lots of other stuff going up too. Master craft set of 4 was 40 and is 60. It just happens over time
The pricing is all set by the manufacturer. We follow MAP pricing policies strictly, so when they say "hey, these are going up on this date." We make the change. I can assure you that we didn't raise these on our own to corner people into buying them at a higher price. I've got 3 in stock, and if you're interested in it still, I'll waive the shipping costs. Just send me a PM if you'd like, and we can get it set up.

I do however feel that MAP pricing is the new word for Price fixing. Which is illegal. Funny how the word changed and now they get away with it. Someday the government (or a savvy lawer) will catch on and hopefully go after them (being the corporations that price fix (MAP).
Ok, I am stepping off my soap box. Sorry.
Nothing against Joe or Quadratec. Joe has helped me in the past and was very professional.

I just got a Real wheels bar and 520 PIAA from Quad, I live near by so drove to west chester. Said the same thing about the price bump. Not much we can do. Its a great bar and looks good so I do recommend it, even at the extra cost. I will be pissed though if its on sale on black friday. If that happens i better see a check in the mail box.
Another thing to consider is the environmental impact of natural disasters in countries overseas where products you're interested in are made. I was on Newegg the other day, looking to buy a couple of hard drives and noticed prices have almost quadrupled. A drive that was $35 a week ago is now $115.
It's easy to assume some corporate bigwig is getting selfish and just trying to screw you, but sometimes the manufacturer really is hurting. I'm not saying this is the case with products on Quadratec, but stuff like that happens more than you think and it's often overlooked.

Map pricing started because of a guy in his garage would sell something online for $20 when it retails in a store for $30. He is ok making $5 profit because of no overhead. The retailer who orders way more from the manufacture become upset because people now say they charge too much. They lose business and the manufacture loses big accounts. The little guy now doesn't like the product and switches to something else he can make money on.
Meanwhile the manufacture suffers or goes under because the big account who bought a lot more no longer orders or orders a lot less. So map pricing keeps it fair all the way around. So the little guy can make more profit cause less overhead and the large retailer has happy customers.
I deal with map pricing everyday.

Absolutely right, mate! The US dollar has fallen drastically in the last decade, and has accelerated recently as we try to monetize our huge debt. Just look at how gold prices have skyrocketed. Thank you Obamananke (Obama + Bernanke)!
