Default Hydro lock?

Went wheeling today after putting on a CAI and hit a deep puddle. The engine died and the cone was dripping wet. The throttle body was slightly wet, but not bad. The intake tube was also slightly wet. After about 10 minutes, it started, after some hesitation without the cone. Once I got back to the parking lot, I let the filter dry and the engine idle. It ran fine, the filter dried and I put it back on and drove the jeep back home, approx 30 miles. The jeep starts right up and runs fine now. Should I be concerned about a later issue, or am I good? Also, is there anything I can/should do to prevent damage?

Maybe your filter just got wet enough to Starve the engine of air. I'd change the oil just to be safe. If the engine idles fine the u got lucky and didn't bend anything. Time will tell

Yeah I was thinking that. Changing the oil now, also ran sea foam in the old oil and in the gas tank. Hopefully that'll clean it. Also got some oil stabilizer to make things better. Will keep updated.

When my trail buddy hydrolocked his engine it was running bad from the first time after crossing that river. So the odds are with you and probably you havent damaged somethink vital. If you want to hit deep water just get rid of that CAI. Friendly advice.

If you wheel in water, NEVER install a CAI

I did it on my first JK in 2008

I sold it one month later because I almost had hydrolock

I had also throttle issues with the CAI
