Default Hypertech Install..

Well I got my Hypertech tonight. Install went flawless after I updated the unti via the internet. However when I measured my tires based on their calculations of moving the tire one full rotation then dividing by pie it came to 30.87 inches...I thought I had 32 inch tires?

ALso when I went to enter the tire size they only had 30.75 and 31 so I rounded up and went with 31.

I only drove it for five minutes but it seems to shift a lot better now (auto) and does not engage overdrive as easily. I am still having the issue of it locking up at 1500 rpms but it did not require full throttle to get it out and only happened once on my test drive.

I guess I will really see on my way to work tomorrow.

I used the regular setting on the programmer however as I was driving my mileage dropped from 17.2 to 16.9? Could be because I turned the heater on at that point?

Overall though pleased at how much smoother it shifts, but only time will tell..

Now if I could just get rid of this clunky steering..

That's not uncommon. It can be influenced by the inflation, etc. I'm not sure why they only let you enter quarter inches, but that should be pretty close. You'll probably notice the improvement in throttle response too.

Are you talking about the mileage computer? Did you reset it before you started? I wouldn't give it a second thought it's just adjusting to current conditions.

I reposted the same thing in the 4:10 thread cause I wasn't sure if you saw this one. The throttle is much better. Also is it ok I put 31 or should I got back and put 32 in?

I did not reset the mileage computer, I will try it tomorrow.

I just don't understand why it is still locking up at 1500 RPMs. It only seems to happen after it is coming down, decelerating and ithe tach needle settles on 1500RPMs, then when I go to give it gas it bogs down and won't go past 1500RPMs until I give it alot more gas.

When I installed my Hypertech firmware a few months ago I followed the advice given by WOL in another thread: Measure the tire from the ground to the top of the tire where the shoulder makes the sharp, square turn into the tread. My 33s measured 31.25". Put that into the Hypertech and checked against a GPS and my son's F-150 running stock tire size--all three read the same.

Same here...My 33's actually measured at 31.75" and my speedo has been accurate...

Put the closest value you can to the real diameter of the tire.

I don't either. It may be worth a trip to the dealership. Just remember to return the vehicle to stock through the Hypertech Max Energy before you go there.

Heh, dealer reflashed the software, replaced the TC, and reset the TC break in. Each time it came back after 500 miles. Ive been dealing with their master tech who claims that it is normal and they can do nothing further. Been to the dealer about seven times in total for it.

Okay, let me clarify. Maybe try a different dealer. It doesn't sound like from everything you've said that yours is much good for anything.

You're welcome. (There sure seems to be allot of posts lately relating to problems with crappy dealers.)
