Up until a couple years ago, me with 2 jobs and my wife working, we were pulling in 100k. Of course, with no mortgage or kids at home, our taxes were very steep.

But she had to quit work because of health issues, and I am getting tired and about to give up the 2nd job, so we don't fit the bracket anymore.

Fortunately, when I bought the Jeep in 07 I was able to pay cash for both the Jeep and in 09 the few (but expensive) mods I have. I would not spend so freely with my current income. And I won't go into debt for anything but the essentials needed to survive.

I am surprised that number is an "average" though.

100K sure sounds like a lot of money.

2 people making 50k a year each, take 20-30% right off the top for taxes.
Say 35K each, roughly 3k a month.

Pay into your failing 401K, mortgage on house deep under water, Jeep payment, insurance, food, bills and couple hundred a month on credit cards.

Leaves you with about $140 a month each or 3k a year in spending money.

Which is why I rebuild motorcycles to pay for Jeep stuff.

No wonder everybody charges so much for tires and bumpers
I can't see where can be much different than any other auto that costs the same dollars.

Heck, go price a new King Ranch F350 for about $70,000. And the F250's around over $60,000. Makes these old Jeeps look like pretty cheap stuff.

good point, BUT, you're looking at large V8's or V10's, super-heavy duty axles, stronger suspensions, greater towing capacities, a bed for hauling stuff. put that into a Jeep and you got your $50-$60,000 vehicle. still not gonna have the hauling room though.

In other news, I make roughly $37k take home and I can barely afford my JK, that's why it's still stock
and will be till tax time

No, I'm only looking at dollars for the ride - out the door. No way some Gov't figure is going to figure in all the dollars spent after the purchase.
