Has anyone spoke to their insurance agent about whether (1) the cost of your mods are covered; (2) mods will void your coverage; (3) can you get coverage for off road use?

Those things mostly depend on your insurance company. I know from experience with several different insurance companies that if aftermarket gear coverage is available you have to request it separately, and some companies directly with an agent. No real experience with offroad claims so I can't speak to it, but with all the money we pour into our vehicles the aftermarket coverage is well worth the small upcharge in my opinion.

State Farm told me they dont have any additional coverage but if its perminately attached to the vehicle its covers as long as you can provide a receipt...not sure how much weight that holds if its not on paper though.

My St. Farm agent said if it's on there it's covered. "like a good neighbor!"

If you want coverage for mods go with geico, they actually ask you if you have modded your vehicle when you get a quote, my old cars ram air hood, front fachia, (sp?) spoiler, intake and exhaust were covered for no extra charge

Has anyone got a hemi mod added to their insurance coverage? Especially with a 6.1, I am a little nervous about the rates staying anywhere near the "station wagon" level.

Even without a ticket in over 20 years, I used to have to haggle with them to keep my Firebird's rates down, and that had a paltry 300 hp.

The Jeep is paid for, I figure if I wreck and live I will end up buying back the wreck and sticking the drive train in the next Wrangler.

My insurance said I had a certain $ in aftermarket parts covered but when it came time for them to cover an accident they said they didn't have a policy like that. Just make sure you have everything in writing (I did, but apparently they "didn't have that policy").

My insurance also charges extra to cover mods. They said pictures of the mods on the JK would suffice for proof of purchase in case of a loss.
