Insurance
Don't ignore the scratch your head factor. I have a perfect driving record, married, over 30, etc. etc. and my rates vary wildly between companies (there's probably a $1000 range).
Currently, I'm with Progressive (couldn't get Erie in Georgia) and they have me at $339 for every six months (full coverage and upgraded limits). This was the lowest I could find.

$245.57 per 6 months - Full Coverage
Also, have a 2002 Grand Cherokee, it's at 228.13.
Insured with USAA (insures only military and their immediate family)
I'm like trgt, over 30, married, boring, safe, etc.

In addition to age and driving record, let's not forget the make/model, which determines the value of the vehicle, cost of repair, and ultimately your IRG (Insurance Rating Group). I have an X which has a lower IRG than a Rubicon. Also, think Porsche 911 vs Cobalt.
I checked on this before deciding which of the three (X, Sahara, Rubicon) to buy.
I determined that I couldn't really afford a Rubicon at the time and that if I modded my X later on down the road, my insurance would remain cheaper than it would be with the Rubicon.
