I've been abused
On top of all this s!@t, the sales manager at LARRY H MILLER in Bountiful, UT. was a complete prick. He didn't apologize for MY inconvenience, tried adding more money to my order, tried to get me into an X they had on the lot after waiting 4 1/2 months for a vehicle that I ordered...
The dealer should have never ordered it that way. Did you sit and watch him enter it into the system? I tried to add the rear locker to my Sahara and the dealer connect web site would not allow it. It even popped up a message saying that the front sway bar disconnect was needed to add the locker.
It seems to me that you wanted an option that was not available. This is like being mad that you cant get a jeep in passion purple with fuzzy interior.
No reason to be mad. It is just not offered. If you don't want it then go buy something else.
It is actually your fault for not ensuring what you wanted was available.
Sorry.

I think they're just lying to you altogether. I ordered my Sahara mid-march with the towing package. That was the ONLY option I added to my Sahara b/c it came with the dana 44 automatically and it wasn't but a $275 option. I didn't have to get some front disconnect or anything. I think they sold your jeep or dealer traded it to someone else. You should have already rec'd that Jeep anyway. I've had mine almost a week now.
Sounds fishy...
It is true that the options are dependent on each other. You get both or neither. When you select only 1 of the options in the TOPS ordering system on Dealerconnect (factory/dealer website) an error message comes up and says that the options are required of each other. It then gives you the choice to "Apply" (add the missing option) or "Ignore" which would then allow you to complete the order. Upon placing the order, if they did choose to ignore addign the option, it would go into edit error and sit there until the dealer added the missing option or removed the locker option. (sorry if this explanation is confusing).
I would contact the dealer and ask for a new build sheet print out. If an order is changed since the initial time that it is placed it will list a date when it was modified and the modifying persons SID # (ID # given each dealership employee by DaimlerChrysler). By doing this you could find out if it was changed by the dealer.
If you want some more detail give me a call here at Don-A-Vee and I can explain it all in more detail. 714-528-5337 X307
In the end, I highly doubt that the factory deleted the option. Only time they do something like that is when they have messed up on the TOPS system and it has allowed a bunch of dealers to build a vehicle with options that will not work together. If they find a bunch of orders in the system before they fix the TOPS problem they will post a message at the top of our "Daily News" (daily information sheet on ordering and build issues and changes) which states "There have been a large number of vehicles ordered with the XXXXX option which is unbuildable. The correct option will be added (or deleted) so that the vehicles can be built." It is then up to the dealer to cancel or allow the order to continue.
I have not seen a message like this about the locker/swaybar options. If I were to put money on it, I would say something was done by the dealer or the dealer's factory rep to get the order built.

PS - If I screwed up I would cover the cost of adding a locker to the vehicle. Even if, buy some strange occurence, it was the factory I would step up and assist the customer in finding a suitable solution.

So, it seems like the dealer was able to order with these options, then at some point fairly recently, the factory stopped building them that way. At that point they should have notified you to work out a solution. It sounds like the biggest problem here is the attutude and lack of empathy you're receiving from the dealer.
It sounds like you need a vehicle soon. If you got a good deal on the order, I would try to get them to offer some freebies, whether a credit for a rear locker purchase or something. If you didn't get such a good deal, maybe see if you can find one on the lots equipped as you like and purchase it (from another dealer of course). What I would hate to see happen is you walk away from an order with a well-negotiated price that the dealer will just take a sell for more when it comes in, especially since you're so close to delivery. That essentially rewards the dealer for their poor communcation (and is probably what they're hoping you'll do).
Edit - Don-A-Vee beat me to it! Thanks for the clarification on the ordering system - I defer to him for info on that. I still hope you don't give up without a fight, however - that is how crooked/incompetent dealers become emboldened to continue to screw buyers.

There was obviously a glitch in the system and it allowed his order to be processed with one but not the other. This is based on the fact that he walked out with his order sheet.
1. His dealer should have called him and let him know that there was a problem.
2. His dealer should be kicked in the nutz for not knowing his product.
I see you are in Columbus. I spent some time there at Benning a while back.
