My jack stands consist of a smattering of brands, including one that has no name, no rating sticker, and no safety sticker (Hating lawyer-speak as I do, I like that last one). I bought them almost 50 years ago when I lived in Utah. The other two pair are from Craftsman, one rated for 2-1/2 tons, the other for 2-tons. Good for holding a drooping axle up, but not much more. I've been wanting to replace the unrated ones, which I've used for pretty much all my under the Jeep work here at my house (I also have a friend with a car lift in his shop). I found that there are very few that go as low (14") as these and as high (21") as these. Every set that I found either doesn't go very high (typically 17-18"), or very low (typically 16-17"). I ended up ordering two sets of these (see link below) yesterday. They have a lifting range of 15-3/8" to 23-13/16". They are also double locking, which my older jacks are not.

They have a 4.4 rating after reviewmeta.com removes the "unnatural" reviews (https://reviewmeta.com/amazon/B00026Z3DQ). You can also find these stands at Tractor Supply, if you prefer local buying.

Even with Jack stands, block the other wheels from rolling, especially if jacking up both sides of an axle, as soon as there isn't pressure on the ground the differential gears can turn and the vehicle roll or move.
i joke about using sticks of firewood, but use all safety measures you can, I also do as Mark said and set the tire or something else under the frame rail along with the jack stands, that way it lands on something else before my head

Dat as much as i would like to use a stump for a jack stand......no just no, plus its all split for camping/fire place wood.

A few weeks ago i replaced the front shocks, while installing metalcloak overland fenders, but had to pull the front tires off. Placed the jack stands under the front axle but also slid the tires under the frame just in case something happened to the stands.

But like Mark said there are ether short stand that dont go high enough or medium stands the dont start low enough. Im also running into an issue that my jack its self wont go high enough to fully lift the jeep off the ground by the frame. so looks like Santa needs to bring me jack stands and jack for Christmas.

I did a few years ago pick up a set of race ramps and chock blocks, got tired of jacking the WRX up to slid under it to do an oil change.

Before I retired I worked for the federal and state government and had to do inspections on jack stands every 6 months. Most people do not realize that when you buy a set of 3 ton jack stands that the 3 ton rating is for both stand. Each stand is only rated for 1/2 of the 3 tons. You can buy stands that are rated per stand and they are required to say that the rating is for each stand on it or in the paperwork that comes with it. PLEASE BE CAREFUL IN SELECTING YOU STANDS AS YOUR LIFE WILL DEPEND ON THEM.
