Jeep Model Differences
I'm looking into getting my first JK, and am a bit overwhelmed with the options. Just in packages alone there are:
SPORT Customer Preferred Package 2TS
SPORT
SPORT RHD
ISLANDER
MOUNTAIN
SAHARA
RUBICON
My knowledge is this:
I already know what the rubicon package includes, so no need to fill me in there.
The sahara (from what i understand) gets color-matched fenders.
What separates the sahara from a sport besides that ?
The islander isnt even of interest to me...lol
Is the Mountain package anything more than a few stickers and different color seats? Gearing, rims, etc. ?
Now the fun part...
Sport, Customer Preferred Package 2TS, RHD ?!?!?!? Someone please help me with this..lol
thanks

At least that's what it was back when I bought..... although I'm sure it hasn't changed much (correct me if I'm wrong you guys)
Trust me, unless you're a mailman or are moving to Oz, you don't want the RHD: It's the right-hand drive model.
I think the customer preferred package 2TS is just an options group that's been cobbled together to get you to buy things you don't want. In my case, it was called the 24S package and you had to buy it to get cruise control. But it added other things I didn't really need (sorry, don't recall what any longer). Here's a summary of the models:
X/Sport: Basic model. If you plan to build your own rig for the trail, this might be the right choice for you (depends on whether you'd end up replacing all of those Rubi goodies).
Sahara: The luxury model, if there is such a thing. Plenty of people wheel them, but they do say "not wheeled" because of the painted fenders. The Sahara comes standard with all of the things that appeal to soccer moms and mall crawlers (and were never offered in Jeeps pre-JK), such as power convenience group.
Rubi: Serious off-road vehicle. Larger off-road tires (vice street tires), lower gearing in the transfer case, lockers on both axles, beefier D44 on both axles (vice D30 on front of other models), 4.10 gears, electronic sway bar disconnect, etc. Much of this can be easily added to an X or Sahara, but not all.
Regardless, whichever model you choose, all are capable off-roaders, the Rubi is just more capable.

Dont they ALL come with AC?
im probably going to go with the X
Three reasons,
1 - alot cheaper up front
2 - I dont plan on going to Moab any time soon
3 - Long term savings i.e. gas mileage. The rubicon doesnt get the best gas mileage (am i right..
..anyone?)

Two door mountain is sweet , did'nt know they made that
I'm averaging 20 mpg city and highway with my stock Rubi. Not sure you can get much more out of the Sahara and the X. Just put in a CAI and the SC Flashpaq. Hoping that will up the MPG a bit.
Good luck on your choice!

Not saying i dont believe you...lol...just saying, the trip put a bad taste in my mouth. That being said, the kind of wheeling i intend to do is mostly mud that i encounter going to and from the duck blind or the deer stand.
I want a jeep for the same reason i want a pistol..i dont plan on using it to shoot someone, but its there if i need it
dude i got a 2010 sport unlimited with the 24s package and it come with everything the sahara comes except that you can get the DVD navigation wich i did't care for and 18" rim and paint fenders other that than is not much differents
24s power window, power lock, remote key dual top (hard top, soft top) 6 cd/dvd player and 7 speaker 17 rim (they look nice) and some not all 3.73 gear wich will will if you are trying to get a lift and 35 and run it with out regearing for some time, dana 30 in the front that the only bad thing but that can be replace as well as the rear 44d for more stonger axles and thats why i when with the sport 24s rubi was not wort the money to me since i not planing to go to crazy off road and the sport with a lift and 35 and winch is more than capable in to what i plan i can remember more than that dude
and as far as upgrading if check cop 4x4 AEV most of their vehicles are sport or x model that have been upgrade to the extreme and more capable off any rubi sorry dudes but i love my sport
and the RHD is nice and unique since it makes me go back when i was in japan driving my skyline or my silvia but here in the states is a pain in the ass and it would drive you nuts wouldn't recommend
