I've done the whole leave the jeep unlocked thing. I've done the leave the jeep without a top or doors thing. Sure no one steals anything out of it if there is nothing to steal but what keeps the homeless from sleeping in it when it is raining or simply when they are drunk. My co workers kicked a drunk bum out of my jeep parked in my work parking lot with the top up and doors off. I prefer to leave it locked and empty.

I know what the ravelco key is. What the heck is the dealer installed security key?

It is like the ravelco in theory, but it is a flat chip/key that plugs into it, mine mounts on the lower left dash panel. I thought it was great, it has about 8 wires that come out of it and go under the dash into the unknown. Then I looked at it and the dealer only used TWO of the 8 wires, clipped the rest short. I took it back, and all they said was "That is how it is supposed to be, the other wires are for autos that need them".
WTF would stop anyone from figuring that out real quick?
I about ripped it out right there and threw it at them, it only cost about $95 installed, so you get what you pay for sometimes. Lesson learned.

I just put my doors and top back on yesterday after having them off almost everyday since June. I kept nothing in the glove box or center console besides a pen or two, not pad and a couple maps. Never had a single incident of anything being taken. Only issue was someone placing their trash on the drivers sode floor. Oh well, I was able to recylce most of it.

Wow, a trained attack badger, That'd be an AWESOME security system.

"No officer, i dont know what happened to the intruder, spontaneous human explosion? please mind the puddles, they'll stain the cuffs of your pants."

"anyone got a squeege?"

back in nj they would just take a hacksaw blade and cut the steering wheel and off comes the club, it doesnt take long to cut the wheel. Maybe disconnect your battery if the jeeps going to be sitting it will only take you one minute to reconnect
