Default JK not that slow

Ok, here is a little piece on JK power, or lack thereof.

My wife, has an 89 K5 Blazer, with a new motor (less than 10k miles), new tranny (less than 5k miles). It has 33" BFG Muds with 3:73 gears.

I am in our 07 JK, about 20k miles and 35" BFG Muds with 4:11 gears.

Both are automatics.

On the way home from supper, she challenged me to a race. (She always said the JK was a dog and her Blazer was faster)

At a stop light, with the next one being about a 1/4 mile away, off we went, both, floored. The Blazer's 350 sounded real good with the Flowmaster exhaust.

We where dead even for about 3 seconds, and then....the JK pulled away. A couple hundred yards from the next light, the JK was 2 car lengths ahead.

Chalk one up for the JK.

PS No laws were broken in this experiment by two middle aged juveniles!

Actually from a standing start, the little 3.8 really seems to get with the program if you keep the revs up. I have to say it is more sprightly than my V6 Tacoma 4x4 that I traded in for it. The Taco would go up hills better on the freeway, however, so I think the JK motor just needs to rev to make torque and HP.

I noticed that the K5 shifted while the little 3.8 just kept spinning up...I think that is how I pulled this off...

I love my JK, but it is an old dog. It hits a hill and feels like it is stalling it slows down so fast and the RPMs quickly diminish.

Our Pilot has a better engine as a daily driver. Wish the JEEP was as responsive.

Speaking of Chevys. I have had a chevy s-10 v6 pickup. That was way worse than my JK. It made a ton of noise but went no where. The bark was like a lion, but the bite was a nibble. I have no desire to ever own a Chevy again
