Default Just a week from trade in, RIP 2007 JK.

I ordered a brand new Mango Tango Unlimited Rubicon on 2/5. It has been sitting in Toledo waiting for shipment for two weeks. Last weekend, the engine blew in my 2007 JK I was going to trade. It had 140k miles. RIP.

Here she is as well as the hole in the block.

I'm not sure why it blew. The day before, I took off somewhat fast to merge in with traffic, and the engine started to make a ticking sound. I didn't think much of it at the time. I just imagined since it had over 140k miles, maybe it was a noisy lifter. The next day, I was driving up the interstate with cruise set on about 70. All of the sudden, the Jeep started to shake, I smelled oil, and it quit.

The dealer told me I didn't have the lifetime powertrain warranty.

You should check for yourself. I wouldn't trust a word those people will tell you.

This is true. I bought it on 5/1/2007, and from what I understand the lifetime warranty was offered after July.

The lifetime powertrain warranty started late July 2007.
