Or the people with small dogs that insist on having them ride between their laps and the steering wheel.

Anyway, Heidi when she is not driving is in a Ruffrider Roadie available from ruffrider.com or now even on Amazon. I will try to post some pics a little later today as this is the best harness I have found (and I have looked hard!). The key to this harness is that it has NO buckles to break in an emergency and literally becomes part of the jeep (every bit as good as a seat belt). I have it anchored with a large caribiner to the seat attachment point in the back. Heidi has the ability to move about freely but can only come so far into the front. With the cargo nets (soft top installed) or hardtop on she has a second level of security and safety. (She may be my best friend, but there's a lot of money and time invested in her training too)

The nets I have again are IMHO the best I've found for the JK. They are manufacture by Raingler (raingler.com), a Colorado based company and carry a lifetime warranty. Here's a shot of Heidi looking out the back of her jeep with the summer nets on.

I also want to add that as a dog advocate some states have passed laws against unrestrained pets in a moving automobile or truck. I doubt they are actually enforced most of the time but at least it's something. Dogs are in my opinion brilliant aliens whose language we just can't speak yet. They (the dogs) seem to be doing a pretty good job of understanding our language though!
awesome

Agreed! Not quite as safe as texting War and Peace to your significant other while driving, in my book!

They made it a law up here that dogs in the back of trucks need to be chained or restrained in some way......not that many pay attention to the law.

no kidding, I see farmers with their dogs on flat beds. Amazingly enough the dogs are smart enough to stay on the back and not get tossed off.

This is similar to what I use except mine has the male end to buckle him into the seat buckle.

I take a dog harness and attach it to a clipped in seat belt with a Quick Draw ( a piece of climbing gear that is two caribeners conneected by nylon webbing)

Works really well.

Thanks for all the input. I ordered from Raingler. Lot's of good choices to pick from.
