To keep or not to keep my '07
So, like many of us I'm faced with the decision of getting rid of my '07 jku or upgrading to the '12. The pros and cons are about equal. Thing is I still owe about $16k on mine and just refinanced it through my credit union at 3%, so my payment is great, but do I want to continuing paying on a 5 yr old vehicle for a few more years or just bite the bullet and get a new one at a much higher payment and higher finance amount? I figure if I'm paying a car payment anyway why not pay on a new one...but it would obviously mean I'm starting all over. Tough choice.
I was contemplating the same thing...my 2 C's?? Dont do it. Just keep paying on yours, the brand new wrangler model will be out in a few years and then you'll want that. You'd be in a better position to get the brand new model at that time...Plus can trade in/sell yours and have a good down payment.
They made the TJ from 97-06 I think?? So the Jk should run from 07-2016, but I've heard 2014...guess we'll see. Hell IDK, but Im gonna keep mine!!

I was thinking about it too, I have an 08. decided to hold onto it for now and see what gets released in the next 2 years, would rather hold out for a diesel or possibly new model then bite the bullet now. I have a great interest rate and only one $10k on it. Also have to keep in mind that Wranglers hold their value crazy good, 10 year old TJ's are still going for 10-12K so your money will still be in it. So if you think about it, if the new ones come out in 2014, and you want one, you robably/possibly would have your jeep paid off or close to paid off, then that would be at least 10K down payment on the new one.

I just can't see trading up on mine personally.
I'm gonna hit 58k tomorrow and my engine still feels great.
I'm just gonna keep modding the crap out of it.
I'll be paid off in a little over a year. Then all that payment money can go to any more mods I want.
resale value will still be high in a year or 2. I'd wait to see if they change anything.

keep your 07. i have an 07 jku x. totally black dash, crank windows, no a/c, factory 4.10 gears
and i am happy enough with the engine. i plan to keep it a looong time.
i am not crazy about the new interior and all the 2012's i see around here are top colour matched

pay off your 07, keep it in good shape and in a few more years it will be the "classic" jeep
everyone likes. then you can trade up to a diesel when they finally come out with one, if you want

Hell I'm at 85K and havent had the slightest issue with mine. The way I figure it the next one I get will be a Ruby and probably close to fully loaded, so the price will go wayy up.
x2 on the wranglers holding value, really doesent matter if you trade/sell it now or in 5 years, the loss will be minimal.

Yup... Keeping my 08 at least until the generation debuts. 42k miles and no issues whatsoever. Does not burn a drop of oil and I personally feel it has plenty of power. Gonna regear soon and enjoy even more. When it's paid off in a couple yrs and if Chrysler has something new to offer besides interior and a "better" engine, then I may be cautiously optimistic...
