Left stranded again
Ha! My first thought (see post) Did not go with the "bad earth" (ground). Can you install a water separator filter? A lot of filters have a drain valve built into them so you can drain and check fuel before it causes a problem..
The Jeep has a standard water trap, with a warning light on the dash, which did not illuminate. The mechaniic drained the water trap and reset the engine fault. It was ok for a while, but yesterday (Saturday), it went into limp mode again. Fortunately we were close to the dealer, so I called the standby mechanic to come take a look. He hooked it up to the diagnostic computer and I stood next to him while the machine downloaded the data from the Jeep. The message says "4th injector remains open". So it's back to the shop next week. Fortunately it's all covered under warranty...
So about 2 days after my previous post, the Jeep died again and it is still in the shop. So effectively 3 weeks without wheels. Only when I called to cancel my order for a new Rubi, did something start to happen. Wrote an e-mail to Chrysler CEO last week and no surprise - no response.
So sadly I am getting rid of my Jeep and moving on to Land Cruiser....

A Land Cruiser can do what the Jeep does (when it's running) ? We would love to have the diesel option here, and ironically, you are blessed-and cursed with it. Are other JK diesels as problematic as yours ? Is the fuel grade an issue ? Check the fuel for contamination ? Locking fuel cap ? See, I'm still hoping for the "simple" explanation...

So right now a new Rubi is in the picture but I am still reluctant to make a decision.
Have you talked to other diesel JK owners to see if problems are shared, or unique to yours ? It's a machine, there has to be a logical reason for these issues; the Rubi might break the bad luck..Hang in there . You mentioned at the beginning about using a "special" grade of fuel- could this be related ?
